Sparky's Page

This is a high voltage project i'm currently working on. My plan so fas is to make it spark safely, and reliably, meaning, no componets over stressed, and then, move on to a plasma speaker / tweeter. In this project, i'm using a simple 555 timer, 2n3055 npn transistor, adjustable DC power supply, and an automotive ignition coil. It does work fine, but we need to do more advaned control, so the parts will change. Next is to make the 555 timer tirgger a small NPN, then to the main coil transistor. Then, after I find a power resistor, the speaker will soon follow.

For this design, we are still using the same components, but where using a second 2n3055 transistor to trigger the main transistor. This is putting much less stress on the 555 timmers internal trigger, plus, the resistors don't get super hot anymore. :P
